2/18/09 - UTU International issues News Release: "A move to stop SMWIA meddling"
2/18/09 - A report from the Hudson Institute entitled: "Union vs. Private Pension Plans: How Secure Are Union Members' Retirements?" is now available. Information on the SMWIA National Pension Fund begins on page 26 of the report.
2/13/09 - Intervenors file a Reply Brief in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. It is filed 7 weeks after the deadline and the Plaintiffs & UTU file a Joint Motion to have the tardy Reply Brief stricken from the court record.
2/12/09 - New documents filed in Judge Adams court. The UTU files a motion to stop the SMWIA from financially supporting the remaining Intervenors. See documents #113 thru 113-6.

2/2/09 - The transcript from the Jan. 30 TRO hearing is now available for download or reading.
1/30/09 - Today, Judge Adams DENIED the Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order to prevent the UTU Executive Board from holding the hearings for the charges which were filed against the six UTU International officers who have intervened in the Michael, et al v UTU case. The Executive Board hearings begin on February 3. We will get more in depth information on the hearing in Judge Adams court as it becomes available.
1/28/09 - Intervenors have filed their reply brief in support of the motion for a temporary restraining order [TRO] against the UTU Executive Board. The brief consists of documents103-1 through 103-16.
1/28/09 - A new update went out by email today!
1/16/09 - Intervenors file a Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order to prevent the Executive Board from holding the Feb. 3 hearing of the charges against the Intervenors. The court documents can be read/downloaded HERE.
12/17/08 - All three parties (Plaintiffs, UTU, Intervenors) involved in the Michael v UTU lawsuit have now filed their briefs in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. You can access them by CLICKING HERE.

We recently received copies of the UTU International compilation of legal costs from a Save Our Union supporter. We knew legal costs to the UTU were mounting, but we were absolutely appalled to see the concrete figures.

A new page has been added to the site. It is "SMWIA Pension Problems" and has links to information about the growing problem with the grossly underfunded pension program for rank-and-file Sheet Metal Workers. Interesting enough, it seems their officers pension fund is OVERfunded.
